The Alcohol Myth for Asthmatics and Weight Loss
There are more cases of asthma developing throughout the world’s population each day. Scientific studies have discovered more cases of asthma have been developed from various irritants from the environment and are not always developed genetically. Asthma is a non-contagious respiratory disease that creates difficulties breathing. Other symptoms such as: wheezing, chest-pain, and back pain can occur while having an asthma attack. Obesity can cause asthma symptoms to occur more often. This is due to the lack of available space needed to allow the lungs to expand and function properly from excessive fat stored in the body.
Drinking one alcoholic beverage such as red wine each day can help reduce the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease. However, excessive drinking can lead to liver failure and obesity, due to the fact that alcoholic beverages are empty calories and build up fat in the abdominal region.
The method to consume alcohol to relieve asthma and other respiratory symptoms has been used since the ancient times; the times when there were no rescue inhalers or other medications available to relieve such symptoms. One reason this method was commonly used is due to the burning sensation experienced while consuming the alcohol. When consumed, the fumes of the alcohol are taken in by the lungs and slow the effects of the asthma or other respiratory symptoms. This method is still quite commonly used by many people around the world to relieve the symptoms of asthma when a rescue inhaler in unavailable. Since every different asthma sufferer have different irritants, the effects of consuming alcohol will not always work for everybody. If you consume alcohol excessively it will do more damage than it will actually help. Your body will be immune to the effects of relieving asthma symptoms. Before even considering this method you should always consult with your doctor or physician.
The method to consume alcohol to relieve asthma symptoms has so much controversy, whether it works to relieve an asthma attack or worsen it. This just all depends on the individual and the severity of asthma each person has. The higher the proof level of the alcoholic beverage is the stronger it is, but this does not mean it will be more effective on the asthma. Some people can relieve their symptoms with just a wine cooler or beer that contains only 5% alcohol.
Excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages is unhealthy and often leads to obesity. This is due to bloating from vast amounts of empty calories from the alcoholic beverages. The body does not digest alcohol from the digestive tract normally like foods, and creates buildup of fats that is stored and not used for metabolized fat. This creates the all-famous, “beer belly” we all know and grow to love to hate so much.
Throughout the years rescue inhalers have changed dramatically. One main ingredient used in creating rescue inhalers is chlorfluorocarbons, which is mostly known as CFCs. CFCs are actually harmful to the environment and the ozone layer that protects the earth, but are not harmful when used in medicines. However, since there is more pollutants that are causing severe global changes to our environment, CFCs are outlawed from being used to create rescue inhalers for asthmatics by the FDA. CFCs are being replaced with HFAs (hydroflouroalkane) as ingredients for rescue inhalers instead, due to the fact that these are proven harmless to the ozone layer.
HFAs are harmless to our environment and are just as effective for relieving asthma. The main ingredient used to create rescue inhalers is non-toxic on the body as well as the ozone layer. However, since CFCs which have been originally used in rescue inhalers since the 1930’s have been replaced with HFAs, each person’s body will adjust differently. In some cases the new inhalers can cause weight gain. This is why asthmatics that are overweight really need to be more aware of the dangers of obesity.

Remember to always consult with a doctor before switching to alternative medicines and before beginning a diet or exercise routine. Do not self-diagnose symptoms of asthma if you have not been informed by a doctor or specialist. If you are unsure if you have asthma and have asthma-like symptoms get help right away.
