The Wonderful World of Water
Water is the source of all living things, and is essential to survival. Approximately 70% of our planet’s surface is covered with water. The scientific formula for water is H2O, which is a combination of hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms. There is evidence that proves that water has also been discovered throughout the galaxy.
Our body’s chemical make-up consists of approximately 60% of water; this is why so many people often use the phrase “our bodies are made up of water.” This is based on facts and scientific research. Our bodies lose water every single day from perspiration, breathing, and urine and bowel movements. This is why it is so important to replenish and rehydrate the body by drinking water each day.
Doctors recommend the average person to consume at least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. However, everyone’s water intake will vary due to such factors as: weight, height, how active you are, and how often you urinate.
If you are someone who stays active constantly throughout the day your body needs water to replenish and rehydrate regularly. When you perspire you lose essential fluids and nutrients, so drinking water is essential to stay healthy and to maintain your energy.
The average adult will release approximately 1.5 liters or 6.3 cups of urine per day. Healthy urine should be colorless or slightly yellow in color, if it has a foul or strong odor and is a dark yellow you should consult with your doctor. In some cases your doctor will recommend drinking more water to help eliminate toxins in the body. Lack of water can lead to urinary infections along with dehydration. This is why it so important to replenish lost fluids with water. Consuming water can actually help reduce risks of urinary infections by flushing harmful toxins that are not needed to keep your body healthy.
If you drink water excessively, it can cause you to have too much fluid in your body and cause thinning of the blood. Consulting your doctor is a great way to determine what the recommended amount of water you should consume per day. However, there is also a way that many people will often use to help keep them from drinking water excessively. “Essential 8,” simply means that there are more than 8 essential nutrients and minerals in water, and to drink 8 ounces of water 8 times per day.
Water is not only great to keep your insides healthy but also helps keep the skin look healthy as well. Water works from the inside, out and while it works to keep your body functioning properly it also helps keep your skin moist and supple. By simply consuming water instead of carbonated beverages you can reduce the appearance of some known forms of acne as well.
If you are trying to lose weight, drinking more water will actually stimulate your appetite making you feel fuller longer. This is also great if you are someone who tends to overeat. Drinking water after exercise is great to replenish lost fluids from heavy breathing and perspiration.
The world as we know it contains plenty of water that we need to survive and be healthy. Water is essential to all living things not only humans. Plant and animal life all need water to survive as well. The first choice to a healthier life starts with one glass of water, so what are you waiting for?
